THE WHITE ROSE AUTHOR EVENT – POST Event Pictures and Updates
May 2017, I was an attending author at the, White Rose Author Event in York City, Venue – Park Inn Radisson Hotel.
The White Rose Author Event – is one that I will always remember. It was beautifully and timely organised. Everything from the location and venue was perfectly researched and well-chosen. This was a huge event with authors travelling from as far as America. York is very picturesque and a beautiful city.
As an author who is constantly behind a screen and rarely lifts my head to see the light of day, it brought home to me the importance of these events for us authors. These events are not just about selling books for authors, its as much about networking and meeting fellow authors/bloggers/readers.
These events force us out of our writing dens to let the world know that we are real and do exist! As I conversed with like-minded authors on the day, it became very apparent to me that it was not just me that lives behind my screen lost in a fictional world with my characters – but most authors are too. We often don’t realise just how much we hide away behind our screens as time seems to elude us once we are in writing mode… It was good to be physically networking face to face rather than on line, which is my usual mode of networking as it is for most writers. The very nature of our job is solitary for the most part.
Me at my stand just before the doors opened to the public…
The White Rose Author Event was held at the Radisson Park Inn Hotel – York City UK. This was such an amazing event. I finally got to meet some fellow authors who I have been networking with over the years but have never actually met in person as well as new authors too! Author Martin Tracey, Author L Chapman, Author Grace Harper, Author Kelly Hamley and Author Charlotte E Hart to name a few…
There were around 50 attending author’s from around the globe… However, there was one particular author I was really excited to finally meet – Martin Tracey (author of, Mind Guerilla) He is also from Birmingham UK and our stands were placed beside each other on the day. We had a lot of fun and a successful signing day!
The organisers of this event really did us authors proud. They truly pulled out all the stops. A beautiful buffet lunch was organised for us all midday and they had hired plenty of volunteers to keep us authors topped up with water, tea and coffee throughout the day.
I was pleasantly surprised at how many bloggers were at this event on the day. It was lovely to meet them and connect with them. Throughout the day I felt humbled by the kindness of both authors and readers and made some great new friends.
A list of the attending authors at the, White Rose Author Event…
A lovely picture of Martin Tracey Author and me holding each others books:
With so many published titles it just was not possible to include them all at this event – there was not enough room on my table for a start! So I chose 6 titles and two of them are pictured below. I gave a free luxury goodie bag with each purchase and my readers loved them. They were filled with unique and personalised swag. All those months of preparation was worth it… I soon ran out of goodie bags!
The doors opened to the public at 10.a.m. We authors were in the Henley Suite from 8.a.m setting up our tables. I had done several re-runs at home on my own table to ensure time was not wasted on the day of the event. So I already knew before I got there how I wanted my table to look like. This turned out to be a real time saver on the day!
There is so much organisation that goes into these events. Making sure you have plenty of stock, preparing and organising goodie bags/swag, business cards, postcards, bookmarks, roller banners, book stands and table runner, to name just a few of things we need to organise. There is also travel arrangements and hotels to consider also! The list is endless… However, the main important thing is to have a good signing pen!
This was a fabulous event and one I shall always remember…
2017 JANUARY 29th: INTERVIEW WITH RADIO & T.V PRESENTER, GRAHAM TORRINGTON ON THE LATE NIGHT SHOW AT BBC WM 95.6 FM…
This was a fantastic interview. Graham is such a cool guy and an absolute legend around the country. When I got the call from the producer of the Graham Torrington’s Late Night show, I was flabbergasted and truly honoured. The interview lasted over 20 minutes and aired at 11.25 p.m. all over the West and East Midlands…
We talked about my bestselling Amelia Series, a trilogy about my true life story. It was quite surreal to be honest because I remember listening to Graham Torrington’s Late Night Love show years ago!
For a limited period of time you can replay my interview on BBC iPlayer…

I love discussing current affairs here in the UK and around the world. So if you live in the UK and are travelling to work then tune into 95.6 FM. Or you can catch up with the show on BBC iPlayer.
My very first live radio interview took place at the Mail Box in Birmingham city centre in 2013. Since then I have become a regular on the morning show. You can read more about my first author interview at BBC Radio WM below.
BBC WM RADIO: LIVE INTERVIEW 19th JUNE 2013
As many of you know I had the great pleasure of being interviewed recently by the lovely radio presenter, “Adrian Goldberg”of BBC WM radio. All the production team at BBC WM were fantastic and they all made me feel so at ease and very comfortable. As this was my first live radio show you can imagine I was a little nervous before I arrived! I really had no need to be at all as I couldn’t of wished for a better presenter to be interviewed by for my first live show.
I have received so many wonderful messages on facebook, my fan page and of course twitter. I would like to thank everyone for taking the time to listen to the show and for all your wonderful messages. You have truly humbled me and put a huge smile on my face!
I don’t know about anybody else but it’s really weird listening to yourself speaking live on air, like most people I really don’t like the sound of my own voice! Thankfully many of you who listened to the show assured me that I sounded just fine… It was a fabulous day and my daughter also enjoyed the whole experience and has been proudly telling all her nursery friends and teachers about her mummy being on the radio! I can honestly say my daughter is my number one fan.
