Penelope Crowe http://penelopecrowe.blogspot.co.uk/p/blog-page.html talented author of “ABSORBED” and “100 FORTUNATE DAYS” very kindly ask me to be part of THE NEXT BIG THING – of course I accepted! At the end of my interview please see the authors I have tagged and who are also part of the fun… I hop you enjoy this interview OF me BY me.
What is the working title of your next book?
The working title for my next book is called “BROKEN WINGS”
Where did the idea come from for your book?
About a year ago I wrote a short story for Valentines day on my blog. This was a heart wrenching love story about a soldier who had made a promise to his girlfriend that he would be back for Valentines day. His intentions were to ask her to marry him on his return, however he goes MIA in Afghanistan presumed dead. Angelina, his bereft girlfriend cannot accept that he is possibly dead, she will not believe that Joshua is gone and refuses to buy into her reality. As the weeks drift by painfully, she retreats from the world around her and finds solace in the last place she spent time alone with Joshua.
What genre is your book?
War/Romance. This is a beautiful and tragic romance that will stir up your emotions for sure!
Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?
Wow there are so many that I could choose, however, I would love for Rachel Wiesz to play Angelina see below, this is purely based on the movie I saw her in called “Enemy at the Gates” her acting in this film was superb and you really bought into her love for her co star. Again this was a War/’Romance…
Robert Pattinson would have to play Joshua as he has the rare ability to evoke a persons emotions no matter what role he plays and for my story that is a must.
What is the one-sentence synopsis of your books?
BROKEN WINGS would be: A tragic war romance that will evoke feelings deep within yourself you never knew you had…
Will your books be self-published or represented by an agency?
My book like all my others will be self-published, this is the best option for me as I have control over my book that way!
How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
This story started off as a short story ten months ago, I looked at it again and after such a great response when I posted it on my blog I decided to turn it into a novel and publish the story. I picked it up again four months ago and have just completed the first draft.
What other books would you compare this to in your genre?
I am not sure I can compare it to one particular book, it has elements of many stories.
Who or what inspired you to write this book?
This story was inspired by someone I once knew. A soldier and friend who sadly died in Afghanistan five years ago.
What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?
This is not your average love story at all, it is full of angst and intrigue. A soldier at war, will he or won’t he make it back a live? A devoted girlfriend who’s life is completely on hold after being informed he was MIA. Her thoughts turn dark when the realization hits home that she may never see her soldier again, her daily struggle becomes almost too much to bear. This is a story of intense struggles and survival as well as triumph over adversity.
